PETITION FOR ATTORNEY'S FEE
Comes Phillip Wells, and files this Petition for payment of an attorney's fee for work performed in the above-styled case. In support of the Petition, states as follows:
1. In the above-styled case, Judge David Burnett wanted to insure that Jessie Lloyd Misskelley, Jr., understood his legal rights and the consequences of his cooperating with the prosecuting attorney's office in deciding to testify in the cases involving Damien Echols and Jason Baldwin.
2. At the direction of Judge Burnett, Phillip Wells was appointed by the Court to counsel with Jessie Lloyd Misskelley, Jr. and provide him with information as to what benefits he would receive and what sentence modification could be obtained in exchange for his testimony.
3. The Court further ordered that Phillip Wells report as to the mental status of Jessie Lloyd Misskelley, Jr. and whether or not he understood the

consequences of his decision to testify or not to testify.
4. Phillip Wells met with on three separate occasions with Jessie Lloyd Misskelley, Jr. and had numerous discussions with counsel for the defense, prosecuting attorney's office and the Court. Some legal research was undertaken by Phillip Wells to insure that appropriate advice was provided to Mr. Miskelley.
5. In total, Phillip Wells spent fourteen (14) hours in his work with Jessie Lloyd Misskelley, Jr..
WHEREFORE, Petitioner, Phillip Wells, attorney in Jonesboro, Arkansas, prays that an order of this Court be entered awarding a reasonable attorney's fee for the fourteen (14) hours of time spent in counselling with Jessie Lloyd Misskelley, Jr. concerning his rights and legal consequences of his decision to cooperate with the prosecuting attorney's office and his decision whether to testify in the case involving Damien Echols and Jason Baldwin.
